Ads Of India...

Pot Shots, they term it... and yes, will be interesting and funny to see two big heads fighting like street end ladies who fights for the Tap water and i have witnessed few tap water fights, it will be very humorous to an extent and we must be certainly happy if that war of words doesn't end up with a riot...

Pepsi Vs Cola... Khan Vs Khan... Idea Vs Reliance... Audi Vs BMW... Nano Vs Bikes and lot more, now in recent times it is very interesting to learn that Newspapers have joined that elite list.
The two Print media moguls are great in their own way and i must be honest while expressing in what way they are great..

1) Great in delivering news as it was...
2) Great in placing advertisements at sensitive places...
Most of you would have come to a conclusion on which print media i am talking about, one The Hindu and another one is Times of India...
I have been reading Hindu for years and i must admit that i learnt lot more words by reading Hindu and their skills are certainly adorable, their way of expressing things and their gravity stand on issues will be impeccable.

Few Months Back TOI came up with an Ad for their Chennai edition, which portrays a man who is sleeping everywhere, he sleeps because he got bored with the conventional news dailies and the songs which comes in Tamil will be very nice to hear, like a Lullaby !
Times of India deliberately Targeted The Hindu t Chennai, which is Hindu's head quarters. i was just thinking why Hindu is still dormant and now the dormant volcano has become ACTIVE and have erupted some videos which i enjoyed a lot.

Now as a payback, Hindu targets and very deliberately attacks TIMES OF INDIA for their poor skills, i have been to their site several times, first page will be a FULL PAGE ADVERTISEMENT and then a half page advertisement and then some hot actress photos and some filthy stuffs.
Hindu on the other hand it is quite genuine with their contents and justifiable with their advertisements, Hindu Nurtures English and i don't want to mention what Times of India nurtures.

Stay ahead with Hindu the caption says...

This Video is pretty funny and can say this as EXAGGERATION...
Few young lads are not aware of TAHIR SQUARE and NOT AWARE about the Vice president and so on, but the point to note is they are aware of SIZE ZERO ACTRESS and AIshwarya rai's daughter... quite shame and i feel quite true...
Q:Who will succeed Ratan Tata ?
Answer 1: His son :P
Answer 2: Mukhesh Ambani...

Q:Who is Ram's father in Ramayana the voice questions..

Answer 1: One of the Pandavas LOL
Answer 2: No idea..
Which news paper do you read...
Beep...Beep..Beep..
Three censor tones, which means three words and their lip movement can be easily understood

Whatever it is just enjoy the video, we can enjoy the HUMOR between the rivalry of two great(as i explained) MEDIA guys :P
I must and i will say, The Hindu is ahead(good way) over Times(ads) of India....

  1. Hey Deepak the present advertisement by Hindu is classic and it does bring out the lack of GK among the present generation but this does not mean that everyone in this generation is dumb as those shown on the advertisement. Nice post.
By the way i have removed the Disqus interface on the blogger and your comments would be missing... it has not been deleted. I would be happy you can suggest a better widget for the comments and it should not delete the existing comments. Thanks in advance

  6. Hindu was way better than Times of India. It is very useful to improve ur english, whereas Times is only good for advertisers. A Interesting post, Deepak.

  11. hmmm...you're right...if we really have to read the news, then we have to read Hindu and for TOI...everything else other than news can be found...

  17. I loved the Hindu ad, and I actually read about it online before getting to see it, as I don't watch television a lot. The first time I saw it, I was struck by the cleverness of it. I am a TOI subscriber, and I totally agree that The Hindu has much greater and better content, language, and editorial opinion than TOI. Yet, I take TOI, since it is quick and easy to read. Offers a balance of the serious and the trivial, and I can always use the full page first page ads for peeling vegetables on without having to worry that it is today's first page. Cool post, one that I wish I had been able to write.

  18. It's lack of imagination which forces such refutative ads. Such ads don't strike a chord with me; but yes, they do so with a lot of people. Guess what sells most is what matters :)

    Great post as usual.

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Vishal Kataria hehe thanks for the latter part,, TOI is selling larger but it lacks some ethics, you can understand by visiting their site :)
    Thanks for the comment

  20. i am not sure but i never found Hindu as interesting as TOI .. plus it always gave this monotonous feel after reading any article....

i also have this against feeling for Hindu because of the name they carry...THE HINDU...is it only for this hindu....can't a muslim or a christian read this paper....why they have to be baised towards one religion... ? just a thought!!!

i guess the real fight is always been TOI and HT.....

    regards
    rahul

Times of India also display international models and international unwanted news !

  26. The ads got really boring beyond a point!! acc to me Indian Express is the best, unbiased and no nonsense

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes, we have to agree that Hindu Newspaper and their statement is outstanding. The Hindu is unique in GK improvement with furnishing the detail news promptly.

  28. you got the topic which I am sure has attracted the attention of every television viewer. In the times ( no not TOI) when television has become mouth piece for cinema, it is no surprise to see such answers. The ad missed one big question - who is bharathi ? well, its a open question and you are free to type in your answers. Lol.

Good post. Keep up your good work
    Best

  32. I read about this a few days back and I the first thing I thought was that Hindu and TOI hit each other where it hurt the most. Ouch! I'm actually surprised that Hindu reacted to the ads. But I see it was absolutely necessary. :)

    This is interesting.

I've always been an Indian Express person; read it, worked for it and all of that. I feel it's time Express came out with it ads and advertised the 'middle path.'

  33. That "Around the world" coloum in TOI is Epic.I love reading that :D

    ReplyDelete
  34. The Hindu has existed long before its new enemy ToI (which entered the market just recently, less than a decade ago) and if these youth who are attacked now grew up as they portray, they must have grown up reading nothing but the Hindu (The Young World probably).

As they say, the essential for a superhero hero to emerge is a "Villain" and its fun to watch each one pull each other's leg in an attempt create this perfect villain... Cheap, I agree with you yet what else can you expect, this is India, where pulling each other's leg has been named a national game called "Kabbadi".

  35. @D.Nambiar yes as us said, IE is a nominal one !
Not bad and not great !

    ReplyDelete
  36. @VST TAHIR SQUARE AND CYRUS MINISTRY are today's topic, not some 10 or 20 years back, so their advertisements are crystal clear,,, they don't read HINDu it seems, it must TOI which was tarted in diff name by 1868 or something similar to those era !

TOI website have you visited it ?
    Check that with HINDU !

  39. Loved the Hindu ad. We can talk strategy or mudslinging as long as we can but the. Very fact that the ad has fired up blogosphere shows that it works

    ReplyDelete
  40. :), good one......Hindu and Tamilnadu are inseperable - if you live in Bangalore or Delhi, then the'sudoku' puzzle and list of cartoons in Bangalore times or Delhi times make our day! :)

  41. There was a time when newspapers used to stand for dignity in terms of social behaviour. Now the ad-altercation of two giant newspaper houses doesn't give me any happiness. Such things should not have come up from the two giants.

  42. I loved the manner in which The Hindu responded to Times' ad. (No prize for guessing which paper I read!!)

  47. yes, you are right that the TOI is full of ads while the HINDU not. But it depends on the persons what they like. Everything has its own value in this world whether it is ads or ......etc.

  48. yes, you are right that TOI has more ads than the HINDU. But what I think is that everything has its own value in this world.
